The Homing Project, Tucson
About our speaker: Joan Hall is Treasurer of The Homing Project. She is a long-time Tucsonan who has worked in the field of microfinance in Viet Nam, El Salvador and the West Bank. She has also served on the boards of Watershed Management Group, Iskashitaa Refugee Network, Jefferson Park Neighborhood association and Arizona Women’s Chorus.
The mission of The Homing Project is to provide immediate residence and onsite or referral services to those who are unhoused in order to bridge the current economic and social gaps separating them from safe and dignified living.
Across the country a growing number of cities have been creating villages of VERY tiny prefab houses (64 or 100 sq ft) to rapidly house homeless individuals and families. On an 0.80 acre property The Homing Project has 10 mini home and space to provide dining, laundry, and bathrooms. The shared facilities simplify utility installation and to provide opportunities for social interaction.
