Margaret Regan, prize-winning Tucson author and journalist, will discuss the current state of the border and immigration. Margaret has traveled the borderlands with activists and Border Patrol agents, visiting migrant shelters in Mexico and the immigration detention centers in Arizona. In her talk, she will draw from her first book The Death of Josseline: Immigration Stories from the Arizona Borderlands to discuss the ongoing tragedy of migrant deaths in the desert. Following up with her second book, Detained and Deported: Stories of Immigration Families Under Fire, she will describe what happens when undocumented immigrants are suddenly arrested, detained and deported to countries they haven’t seen in years. The talk will be illustrated by vivid photos.
