Pedro Montaño and his son Diego belong to one of the most talented weaving families in Teotitlán del Valle. The rugs and other items they make are woven on a pedal loom. All their rugs are made from sheep wool, mohair, alpaca and other fibers, all natural. Their work displays the colors of nature: Cochineal, Indigo and Pericón (Yellow tea). Their rugs feature traditional Zapotec and contemporary designs. Most of these designs represent nature, circle of life, eye of God and traditions passed from one generation to another.
Pedro and Diego will be selling their purses, table runners, place mats, coasters, napkins, wall hangings and rugs. The event continues from Saturday to Sunday.
